Don’t expect to add TONS of performance to your ecoboost engine with this intake system. Your engine will rev louder and the acceleration will seem less restricted, but it won’t be that drastic. It will provide you a bit of performance to bring that spark to your Mustang and will be music to your ears as the engine revs through the gears.

The installation took a bit longer than expected. I thought it would be a 45 minute to an hour job and it took me a little over 2 hours. It isn’t difficult to install and anyone who works on their own engine should not have any trouble with this project. If you are an amateur like me, expect to spend more than the average time for installation.

I am not much of a car enthusiast but I love sporty coupes. The Ford Mustang has always held a special place in my heart. The introduction of Ecoboost technology on the mustang lineup has really made the V6 model of the mustang stand out. Unfortunately, the magic of the Ecoboost performance has worn off and driving has become a bit dull. If you are in the same situation as I am then I may have a solid solution to bring that spark back.

Looking for Ecoboost Performance?

If you are like me, you don’t have a lot of money to buy aftermarket performance parts for your car. You may still have a warranty on your car and don’t want to do anything that could void your warranty. I have wasted a lot of time as I searched the internet for cheap EcoBoost upgrades to boost the performance of my 2015 Ford Mustang. To my surprise, most of the 2015 Mustang aftermarket parts were relatively expensive. Even worse, most of the aftermarket upgrades required me to put my car in the shop. Personally, I don’t have the time or the money to put my car in the garage to have performance parts installed on my car.

I was about to give up and just accept my car the way it is until I came across a simple aftermarket performance part that was very affordable and I could install myself. To me, this was a win-win. I stumbled upon a cold air intake system that makes a lot of outrageous claims. You know that feeling you get when you see something that seems too good to be true? This was what I was thinking when I was looking at the intake system on Amazon. Some of the claims that the product would do were:

  • Dyno Proven Power Gains
  • Never Have to Buy Another Air Filter
  • One Piece Pipe Design to Maximize Airflow
  • Built to Last, No Engine Tune Required, and No Check Engine Light

I laughed when I first read this. In my mind, I thought “yeah right”. All of this from a cheap aftermarket performance part that I could install myself? I was rather shocked as I read the customer reviews. I was expecting for some good entertainment of past customers talking about how terrible this product was. Instead, I got something completely different. They did not just like the product, they loved it…what? I was taken by surprise. Here is what one of the customers has to say…I still remember being in shocked as I read this:

Ordered this Cold Air Intake for my 2016 Ecoboost Mustang after doing a bunch of research comparing other CAIs and I couldn’t be happier. You can hear the air filter sucking air when accelerating and the blow off valve when shifting. Definitely helped with the tone of the engine and I noticed a slight increase in power and throttle response. Have put roughly 200 miles on the car since install and it worked perfectly. – Marcus Johnston

Is This 2015 Mustang Aftermarket Intake Worth the Money?

After reading what other customers were saying, I turned to search Google. To my surprise, they all agreed that this was the real deal. I decided to buy this cold air intake system and try it for myself. I do most of my online shopping through Amazon because they offer a great return policy. I figured if I was unhappy with this product that I could simply return it with no questions asked. With no risk, I made the best decision to bring back that spark that had been missing for quite some time when driving my mustang.

The intake arrived a few days later as I am a prime member, and I began to unbox the product. Right away, I was impressed with the quality of the intake. The tube was stainless steel and looked sharp. All the hardware was in the box to install the intake and the instructions were very easy to follow. I was very impressed with everything and went out to install the aftermarket intake on my EcoBoost system.

  • A screwdriver
  • A place to put nuts and screws
  • A toolset is recommended
  • A cold beer…haha

Installing the MAP EBM-AI Cold Air Stainless Steel Intake Kit

I walked out to my car after lunch to begin installing the intake system. I disconnected the original intake and set it off to the side. I began to install the aftermarket intake and began to feel like I got in over my head. It was not as easy as the instructions indicated. I spent roughly about a total of two hours assembling and disassembling the intake system through trial and error.

All in all, it was easy once I got the hang of what I was doing. I am not a mechanic and don’t generally do my own work on my car. I am going to warn you that if you choose to install this intake system yourself, beware that it will take you more time than they recommend.

Once it was installed, it looked beautiful. The quality of the intake system is superb and the aftermarket company definitely took their time to assemble and package a high-quality product. What I found most impressive was the sound that it produced when I revved my car up. I felt like the doctor in Frankenstein as I said to myself “It’s Alive” as I laughed. I felt like a 16-year-old kid driving a car for the first time.

When I took my mustang out for a cruise around town, I felt like there was more power. Perhaps this is all psychological since the car sounded more aggressive. I found myself on many occasions accelerating more just to hear the engine roar. I will warn you right now, get a radar detector if you do not already own one. I got pulled over by a local cop due to speeding. I just couldn’t help myself.

This aftermarket intake system definitely cost me more, in the long run, due to my childlike behavior, but I have to admit that this is a great buy for anyone looking to bring that spark back in their mustang. Comment below and tell us your story. I would love to hear your experience with this aftermarket intake system. Were you impressed? Did you feel that it’s worth the money? I hope that you find this intake system as awesome as I have.

  • Great review! I thought this CAI was priced pretty well compared to some alternatives. I just finished installing it an hour ago and took a quick test drive…. WHOA!!! Sounds like some kind of aircraft taking off, which is pretty cool in my book. I plan on installing a Magnaflow Competition catback tomorrow and I know the sound will only get better.
