What Other People Around the Car World Have to Say:
I installed the K&N short ram intake on my 2006 Honda Civic Si. The included instructions for removal of the old air intake box and installation of new intake were awesome. Kudos to K&N for making VERY EASY step-by-step instructions with pictures! Anyone with absolutely no mechanical knowledge should find this installation a cinch!
I was able to remove the old and install the new in about 2.5 hours. (I’m proud to say that with the exception of my husband loosening some rather tight bolts I couldn’t get, I was able to install this completely by myself…and I’m a woman!) 🙂
Anyway, this intake definitely gave a LITTLE boost to HP, as well as maybe 2-4 mpg extra. (I honestly haven’t been able to properly check the MPG since installing this. I’ve ran my car a little harder than normal due to the increase in performance.)
There is also a noticeable deeper throaty sound produced by the intake in lower RPM’s and becomes more apparent when the V-Tech kicks in around 5700 RPM.
Although the $200+ for this intake seems a bit high, it’s on the cheaper end of mods that can be done to increase performance. So, with that being said, I feel this was a good investment for adding a little more HP, MPG, and a beefier/throatier sound to the engine. – Jennifer
Sounds amazing in my 08 civic Si (I swear people stare every time I rev the engine) and was fairly easy to install. Not sure about improved gas mileage but it definitely has a bit more punch to it.
I even went to my local Honda dealer for an oil change and everyone noticed by the sound that I did something and had 4 salesmen looking under my hood admiring my new k & n intake and trying to get me to trade it in. I’m hoping to notice better gas mileage over the next few months. – Gilbert
